Sydney Friendship Circle

Families

Sydney Friendship Circle is here to support your family and help you and your child feel connected to your local community. It takes all of us to come together to create a community that is inclusive, where you and your child feel supported and welcome, and where your child and family feel the true value of friendship.

We also support you in your role as a carer and advocate for your child, connect you with other families and together we enjoy fun experiences and make long-lasting memories.

At Friendship Circle, our goal is to help you, your family and your child to experience inclusion in our community. We focus on fostering friendships and offering opportunities for your child to have great experiences and make lots of happy memories with their friends.

What makes Friendship Circle unique is our volunteers and our range of fun and interactive programs and activities.

Our teen volunteers are keen to become a friend and mentor to your child. Together, they will play and participate in fun activities. Our volunteers attend regular workshops and are provided with relevant information about your child to enable them to support your child to get the most out of our experiences

We offer programs and activities for Juniors (ages 5-12), Teens (ages 13-18) and Young Adults (ages 18-30).

During school terms, we offer four regular Sunday Morning Programs: Junior Sunday Circle, Teen Sunday Circle, Soccer Sports Club and Gymnastics Sports Club. We also run Day Camp during school holidays with lots of wonderful fun activities and weekend getaways for our Juniors and Teens.

Our Friends at Home program involves weekly visits from two teen volunteers at your house during school terms. They will have a fun play date with your child offering you and your family some respite.

Young adults will enjoy our weekly Friendship Bakery sessions, fortnightly yoga, and regular social outings organised by our YAD FC team.

And we offer regular social events for parents and families, such as our Mums’ Nights, Dad Nights and Family Shabbat Dinners.

More details of our programs are available in our Program Overview and current program dates can be viewed in our Program Calendar.

Please note that our programs and activities may be covered by your NDIS funding. Please contact us to discuss this in more detail.

We are so excited to meet your family.

Jewish Disability Inclusion

With content from the Ruderman-Chabad Inclusion Initiative

Inclusion starts with our attitudes toward what it means to belong. The Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson of righteous memory, taught us to embrace and value each and every person, based solely on an individual’s inner essence.

We present you with essays and articles written by people with disabilities, family and community members, as well as how-to guides developed by the Ruderman Chabad Inclusion Initiative (RCII) to provide the tools to successfully include people with disabilities.
